-Team History-
The St. Cloud River Bats and the Northwoods League are proud to
bring good, wholesome family entertainment at affordable prices
to Central Minnesota. The Northwoods League is a summer collegiate
league comprised of twelve teams dedicated to developing collegiate
players from strong baseball programs around the country. In addition,
the River Bats and the Northwoods League focus on bringing a fun-filled
family atmosphere, along with great competition, to each fan visiting
the ballpark. In 2007 the River Bats won their third Northwoods
League title and entertained 62,106 fans at Joe Faber Field. We
are looking forward to continuing to build a community-based ball
club of which all of Central Minnesota can be proud.
The St. Cloud River Bats will begin
their 12th season of play in the Northwoods League in 2008. In eleven
years the River Bats have built a winning tradition in Central Minnesota.
The River Bats are three-time champions and have won the Northwoods
League Title in 1998, 2000 and 2007. In fact, no other team in Northwoods
League history has more playoff victories than the River Bats as
the 2007 season marked the ninth time in 11 years that the club
advanced to the Northwoods League Playoffs, a Northwoods League
record. They have won a Northwoods League record 23 postseason games
and have appeared in six Northwoods League championship series.
They have won the North Division pennant six out of the last ten
years, allowing them to play in the last five out of eight League
Championship Series. The Riverbats were the host to the Northwoods
League All-Star game in 1999, 2000 and 2001. The 2001 All-star game
pitted the Northwoods League squad against Team USA, with the Northwoods
League team winning 1-0 in an intense 10-inning game.
| Since 1997 the River Bats have
hosted numerous top players from around the country, including
four players making their way into Major League Baseball: Justin
Huisman (Kansas City Royals); Chris Demaria (Kansas City Royals);
Tom Gorzelanny (Pittsburgh Pirates); and Robb Quinlan (LA Angels
of Anaheim). |

The Bats have also hosted the 10th overall pick in the 2004
draft, Thomas Diamond. Selected by the Texas Rangers, Diamond
is the highest draft pick in the history of the Northwoods
