ST. CLOUD, MN- The St. Cloud River Bats recently announced that Hall of Famer Paul Molitor will be their opening night guest. Molitor will throw out the ceremonial first pitch as the River Bats take on the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers on Friday, May 29 at 7:05 p.m. Fireworks will immediately follow the game presented by Cub Foods.

"We have been fortunate to host several former Major Leaguers for our Home Opener throughout the years, and having Paul Molitor throw out this year's ceremonial first, for me, is at the top of the list," said River Bats Vice President Marc Jerzak.

Molitor played 21 years of professional baseball with the Milwaukee Brewers, Toronto Blue Jays, and finally with the Minnesota Twins. Throughout his career Molitor compiled 3,319 hits, good enough to earn him 9th all-time. He was selected to 7 All-Star games and was World Series MVP in 1993. Molitor was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2004, his first year of eligibility.

The River Bats have also announced the rest of their 2009 Promotional Schedule. Along with Molitor other celebrities listed to attend this season include Marvel Comic's Spiderman, Nickelodeon's Dora the Explorer, and the return of William Hung. Tickets to see Molitor and the rest of the 2009 season will go on sale Friday, May 8th. Tickets can be purchased at their office, located in the Municipal Athletic Complex next to Joe Faber Field.

The River Bats are members of the Northwoods League, one of the finest summer collegiate leagues in the nation. More than 140 players were drafted into professional baseball in 2008 from the Northwoods League. The River Bats home opener presented by Cub Foods is Friday, May 29th at Joe Faber Field.
