Bats lose pitcher's duel to Rochester
Brian Flynn (Witchita State) allowed just three hits over seven innings and struck out seven and the Bats fell 2-1 to the Rochester Honkers in front of 1,255 fans at Mayo Field.
A night after collecting four hits in a winning effort against Alexandria, the Bats were limited to just three in their 11th one-run loss of the season.
Kevin Johnson (Cincinnati) was hit with the loss, allowing both runs on three hits over six innings. The left-hander (1-4) struck out four and walked five, losing to the Honkers for the second time this season.
The Bats lone run came in the fourth inning on an RBI ground out from Matt Summers (UC Irvine), which scored Jonathan Roof (Michigan State) from third. Roof finished paced the Bats offensively with two hits.
Andrew Burkett struck out four in two two innings of scoreless relief to keep the deficit at one.
Same two teams tomorrow from Mayo Field. Pedro Ramos (Glendale C.C.) starts tomorrow for the Bats. He will be opposed by Zach Robertson (Iowa). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
