Bats Announce Guest for Vikings Night
The St. Cloud River Bats welcome former Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowler Matt Blair as they take on the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers Wednesday, August 5 at Joe Faber Field. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. Blair will be the honorary guest as a part of Minnesota Vikings Night presented by Miller Lite. Blair will be on hand to throw out the first pitch, sign autographs and meet and greet the fans.
Blair was drafted by the Vikings out of Iowa State in the Second Round of the 1974 draft. He played his entire 12-year professional football career with the Minnesota Vikings as a linebacker (1974-1985).
Blair played in six consecutive Pro Bowls(1977-'82) and two Super Bowls. Blair's punt block in Super Bowl IX led to the Vikings' only points of the game in a 16-6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Blair also managed to collect honors such as being named to the NFL All-Rookie Team, Miller "Man of the Year" for community service, and Most Valuable Linebacker in 1981 and he was selected All-Pro in 1980, All-NFC in 1978 & 2nd Team All-NFC in 1977, 1979 & 1981.
